U-Pack ReloCube review · Updated October 2026

U-Pack ReloCube review: often the cheapest way to move long distance, with steel ReloCubes or pay-by-the-foot trailer space. No local moves, and only a few days to load.

U-Pack is the moving service of freight carrier ABF. You load a ReloCube or a section of a freight trailer, and U-Pack ships it on its freight network. Here’s how it works, what it costs and when it beats PODS and PACK-RAT.

Our Verdict

U-Pack is hard to beat on price for long-distance moves, especially for larger homes, because the trailer option charges only for the space you actually use. ReloCubes are a good fit for smaller loads and tighter spaces. The trade-offs are significant, though: U-Pack doesn’t do local moves, gives you only a few days to load, and doesn’t offer storage at your home. If you need flexibility or on-site storage, PODS or PACK-RAT is the better fit.

Pros
  • Often the lowest long-distance price
  • Pay only for trailer space you use
  • Steel ReloCubes
  • Nationwide, plus Canada and Puerto Rico
  • Fast transit on a freight network
Cons
  • No local moves
  • Short loading window
  • No on-site storage
  • ReloCubes are small, so larger homes need several

ReloCubes work best when space for delivery is tight or your load is small. The trailer is usually the better deal for larger homes, since you pay by the linear foot and a bulkhead separates your belongings from commercial freight.

Moving locally or need storage? U-Pack isn’t built for that. For local moves or storage at your home, compare PODS (save 10% with code WEBSAVE6) or see our PODS cost guide.

FAQs

Does U-Pack do local moves?

No. U-Pack handles long-distance moves, generally 100 miles or more. For local moves, use PODS or 1-800-PACK-RAT.

How big is a U-Pack ReloCube?

A ReloCube is about 6 feet by 7 feet by 8 feet on the outside. Most people need one for a studio, two to three for a one- to two-bedroom and three to four for a three-bedroom home.

How much does U-Pack cost?

For a medium-size move, U-Pack averages roughly $1,900 for about 500 miles and $2,630 for about 1,200 miles, based on 2026 quote data. Larger homes often save more with trailer space, since you pay only for the linear feet you use.

How long do I have to load a ReloCube?

Typically about three business days. If you need more time or want storage at your home, PODS or PACK-RAT is a better fit.
