Self Moving Check List – Three Basic Points

Moving by yourself can be a very stressful experience for anyone and it certainly helps if you know what you need before you set out to get the job done. As nice as it might be to simply hire a moving company, that is simply not an option for many and you are therefore left to do it all on your own.

By making a self moving checklist, you can be prepared and make your move as painless as possible. Here are three basic points to make sure you have covered before you try to move yourself:

  • Method of Moving: Will you use a moving truck and drive it yourself or will you use a portable container and have your things delivered for you?
  • Help: How much help will you require? If you have a lot of heavy stuff then you obviously need at least some help. You will also likely need a lot more help if you go the rental moving truck route as you will have to get the move done in a certain amount of time, whereas with a portable container, you can take all the time you want.
  • Materials: Take a long hard look around your home and try to figure out how much materials you need in order to move it all. How many boxes will you require? What about packing tape, packing peanuts, and moving blankets? You may also want to consider moving dollies to help you with some of the heavy stuff.

While your personal self moving checklist may be a lot longer, these three basic points need to be covered before you can really do anything. You self moving experience doesn’t have to be stressful and, as with many other things in life, a little bit of planning can go a long way.
